Metricks
A browser extension that makes the carbon cost of e-commerce visible
While shipping and delivery are major contributors to the global carbon footprint, the convenience of online shopping makes this impact easy to overlook. Metricks —derived from “metrics” and “trick”— translates carbon emissions into everyday metrics directly in the browser, helping users make more sustainable purchasing decisions.

Making invisible carbon emissions visible through familiar, everyday units
The task was to translate abstract carbon data into tangible references—minutes of microwave use, hours of television, bottles of water, even the life of a sea turtle. By grounding metrics in daily experiences, the system aimed to shift perception and bring users closer to the reality of their environmental impact.

Impacts in playful shifts
The visual identity is driven by the idea that framing information has the power to shift perspective. The logotype plays with modular tricks, letters shifting into graphic units with a lifted baseline. Grids and horizon-like visuals extended this rhythm into nature, bringing a sense of calm balance.

Intime: The Power of Storytelling in Sustainability
The Climate Clock in Union Square is an iconic public artwork that counts down the window to reach zero carbon emissions. Yet many New Yorkers see it as “a meaningful clock that no one really looks into.” The team reframed its numbers through the lens of past, present, and future, embedding them with everyday stories to make the clock resonate more personally.
